About the Cumulative GPA Calculator

How to use the Cumulative GPA Calculator

  1. Enter your previous GPA and the total credits it was based on.
  2. Enter your current GPA and the credits earned this semester.
  3. Press Calculate to see your new cumulative GPA and how much it changed.

Formula used by the Cumulative GPA Calculator

New Cumulative GPA = (Previous GPA × Previous Credits + Current GPA × Current Credits) ÷ (Previous Credits + Current Credits)

Example: Cumulative GPA Calculator

A 3.4 GPA over 60 credits, plus a 3.8 semester over 15 credits

  • Previous GPA / credits: 3.4 / 60
  • Current GPA / credits: 3.8 / 15

Result: New cumulative GPA ≈ 3.48

(3.4×60 + 3.8×15) ÷ (60+15) = (204 + 57) ÷ 75 = 261 ÷ 75 ≈ 3.48.
