Mileage Calculator
Calculate a mileage reimbursement or tax deduction using the IRS standard mileage rates.
About this calculator
Calculate a mileage reimbursement or tax deduction using the IRS standard mileage rates for business, medical/moving, or charitable driving.
Instead of tracking every actual vehicle expense (gas, maintenance, depreciation), the IRS lets you deduct a flat cents-per-mile rate for qualifying driving — a much simpler record-keeping method used by most self-employed people and many employers for reimbursement. The rate differs by purpose and is set annually; charitable-mileage rates are set by statute and change far less often than the business rate.
How to use
- Enter the number of miles driven.
- Select the purpose: business, medical/moving, or charitable.
- Select the tax year, or enter a custom rate per mile.
- Press Calculate to see the total reimbursement or deduction amount.
Tips
- Keep a log of dates, miles, and business purpose for each trip — the IRS requires contemporaneous records to support a mileage deduction.
Formula
Reimbursement = Miles Driven × Rate per Mile
